A Simulation Based Analysis of Ipv4, Ipv6 Migration Techniques

چکیده
The Internet Protocol Version 6 (IPv6) has achieve popularity with organizations, companies and ISPs (Internet service providers) because of its enhancements over IPv4 like (Ipv4 32bit compared to IPV6 (128 bit). During migration from IPv4 to IPv6, one should keep in mind about interruptions of service. In this paper, three mechanisms can be use to provide a smooth migration process. Optimized Network Engineering Tool (OPNET) version 16.0 network simulation tool is use to verify result.

Security Issues in Next Generation IP and Migration Networks
As networks are mushrooming, the growth and development of IPv6 is gaining more importance. The wide scale deployment of this protocol into operational networks raises certain issues with security being one of the most compelling ones. The next generation internet protocol (IPng) introduces vulnerabilities in addition to those inherent in IPv4. While the existing security infrastructure like IP...
متن کاملAn Incremental Carrier-Grade NAT (CGN) for IPv6 Transition
Global IPv6 deployment was slower than originally expected. As IPv4 address exhaustion approaches, IPv4 to IPv6 transition issues become more critical and less tractable. Host-based transition mechanisms used in dual-stack environments cannot meet all transition requirements. Most end users are not sufficiently expert to configure or maintain host-based transition mechanisms. CarrierGrade NAT (...

متن کاملToward Ipv4 to Ipv6 Migration within a Campus Network
The evolution of the Internet has effectively exhausted all unique addresses offered by the current IPv4 protocol. Hence, IPv6 has been developed in response to the predicted long-term demand for addresses by Internet users. This new IP version has a 128-bit address length, which is four times that of IPv4. As the two protocols have different formats and behaviors, efforts are needed to ensure ...
متن کاملPeak Performance of TCP and UDP in IPv4 and IPv6 over Ethernet Networks
IPv4 addresses have been depleted in February 2011, when the IANA allocated the remaining last five /8s IPv4 address blocks to the RIRs. IPv6 has been developed by the IETF as a solution to the exhaustion of IPv4 addresses. In this paper, we present some models to evaluate the performance of IPv4 and IPv6 in Ethernet networks, the most widely-installed local area network technology. Our models ...
